3 Reasons Why The Transfer Of This Italian Legend To Chelsea Is A No Go

The transfer rumours are often quite insane and this one would probably go right up there in the ‘what the crazy’ scale. The coolest footballer in our generation, Andrea Pirlo has been linked with a move away from the Old Lady and seems to be tracked by Chelsea of all people. Jose Mourinho might have played against the Italian when he coached Inter Milan, but this rumor certainly is too good to be true.

The Italian has been at Juventus for the past 4 years and could be looking at a fresh new challenge since the Italian side wrapped up their fourth Scudetto title in a row, we look at three reasons why Chelsea do not need the youngish Italian, who doesn’t seem to get old.

Already have a playmaker

Chelsea do not need another playmaker as they have Cesc Fabregas in their side, the Spanish midfielder had a brilliant first half of the season and while his second half didn’t set the league on fire, he did enough to ensure that Chelsea get their hands on another Premier League crown. Cesc might not have the passing range and ability that Pirlo possesses and he isn’t as cool as Pirlo (don’t know which player is) but Chelsea have a decent enough midfielder to take care of all the passing in Cesc and simply bringing in Pirlo to the club wouldn’t help any player.

The pace of the league

Pirlo might be able to play in a Chelsea team thanks to the movement of Hazard, Willian and Costa and he might have the protection of the bulldozer that is Nemanja Matic but the pace and tenacity of the Premier League could provide as a stumbling block for the midfielder. He wouldn’t be the first Serie A legend to move to the Premier League for Chelsea and struggle, everyone remembers what happened to Andrei Shevchenko, probably one of the best strikers of his generation really struggled at Chelsea, even Hernan Crespo didn’t have the best time at Chelsea and who can forget about the story of Adrian Mutu?

Chelsea need to groom someone

Chelsea need to think more about the future rather than the now, bringing Pirlo might be a great move in terms of the ability of the player and what he brings to the team but what Chelsea need to do is prepare a youth player for the role so that they do not have to spend big. They still have not found the replacement for Frank Lampard and that would be haunting them, getting a player to learn from the likes of Cesc about what the role is about and what they need to do is the perfect fillip for any youngster and Chelsea have a ton of brilliant players coming through the ranks, who knows? They might be having the next Pirlo playing about in one of the clubs where he has been loaned out too.
