3 Reasons Why Philippe Coutinho Must Snub A Move To Barcelona And Stay At Liverpool

Share

As Coutinho prepares to return to full fitness in the upcoming tie against Swansea, his fellow compatriot, Rivaldo, has tipped him to join his former club Barcelona. Phillipe Coutinho arrived in Europe at the very young age of 16, when he moved to Inter Milan. His Inter Milan career didn’t go as he envisaged, as he struggled to stamp his authority on the Nerazzuri. He was loaned back to Brazil and then Espanyol, where he worked under current Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

When it was announced that he would be leaving Inter Milan, Pochettino who was then in charge of Southampton, was keen on taking him to the St. Mary’s, but that move didn’t materialize. He instead moved to Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool and the rest as they say is history. Coutinho has gone from strength to strength at Anfield and has established himself as one of the most exciting players in the league.

Rodgers initiated Coutinho’s resurgence as he gave the midfielder all the belief in the world to become a lynchpin in their success. The Brazilian was also a major part of a Liverpool side that came very close to winning the league recently. Coutinho has not looked back since then, as he has outperformed most of the others in his position. Such form has lead to Brazilian legend Rivaldo stating that Coutinho would fit in well at Barcelona, along with his pal Neymar.

Here are three reasons why Coutinho must stick with the Reds and snub any form of interest from the Catalan giants –

Camp Nou might not be the stage for him

Coutinho has shown that he can struggle to adapt at a club, like he did at the San Siro. A move to Barcelona might be too soon for him as he looks to hone his skills to the fullest in the Premier league. Barcelona is filled with superstars and although Andres Iniesta is coming towards the end of a stellar career, Barcelona could opt to bring someone else in as a replacement.

Premier League is the place to be!

The Premier League has become the world’s top league and this is thanks in part to some of the stars that have made their way to the Premier League. Their presence, along with the influx of young British talent into the Premier league sides has meant that the league has become the strongest in the world. Every player strives to earn himself a move to the Premier League. In those circumstances, Coutinho should really look to avoid departing from such a glorious league.

Chance to become a club icon under Jurgen Klopp

Klopp seems to have gotten Liverpool firing on all cylinders and he has done so with some authority. Liverpool need a natural heir to club legend Steven Gerrard and Coutinho could just be the man to replace the Englishman. He has all the skills and certainly has that presence about himself to gain iconic status which if not similar to Stevie G’s, would surely be up there.
