Arsenal might be on the look for a defender but that does not let Arsene not have a go to sign a few more strikers, the latest news coming in links Roma forward Destro with a move to the Emirates. Arsenal have already let Yaya Sanogo join Crystal Palace on loan and with more games coming in the Champions League and Cup competitions, it could be time to get a bit more firepower into the team.
Destro is just 23 years old and has a stop start career at Roma, he blows hot and cold but could end up at Arsenal if the Gunners agree to pay around £15-20 million to Roma but for all his undoubted talent and ability, Arsenal do not really need to sign the young forward and here are 3 reasons why.
Destro isn’t the most consistent
Mattia Destro isn’t the most consistent of players and he has played hot and cold for Roma all throughout the season. Even last year there was a lot of transfer talk regarding the movement of the Italian but he ultimately stayed at the club after a bit of a run of scoring goals. Moving to Arsenal would not let him play as many games as he would like and Arsenal need someone who can come in and do a job, not play one good game in between 5 games.
They already have a lot of attacking talent
Arsenal do not really need to invest in another striker at the moment, although Destro can play as a winger as well, Arsenal already have Theo Walcott back and will be looking at Giroud & Welbeck to provide the goals. They also have Alexis Sanchez who has been a player on fire this season and when things are already working for the Gunners in the attacking third, why try and break up the good vibes by bringing in a player who is talented for sure but is a bit of an unknown element still in the Serie A let alone in the Premier League.
The steel is missing
The biggest issue with Arsenal is that they have no steel in the defence/midfield, that has been one of the biggest problems with Arsenal over the years and they need to sign someone who can provide the defence some protection and snuff out attacks rather than go out in the window and sign another player for their attack.
Arsene needs to ensure that their midfield issues are sorted first since they don’t really have cover for Flamini and they should try to sign someone in midfield first before thinking about the attack.
