3 Reasons Why Snubbing Manchester United For Liverpool Was A Bad Idea By This Forward

Liverpool ace: I rejected Manchester United

Liverpool are one of the most decorated clubs not just in England but also in Europe. However, they have not lifted the Premier League title for more than two decades and the Champions League title for over a decade and were looking down the barrel recently. However, there is a charisma about Jurgen Klopp with which Liverpool are slowly getting back on track and there is an amount of self-belief in the fans and also the squad that they can go on to do something big. So it does not come as a surprise that players want to join the club in this state of transition. But one player, who joined the club well before is Belgian international Divock Origi.

Having scored 3 goals in his last 3 games, Origi has taken his chances during injuries with both hands and is becoming an important player for his side at a tender age. He still has a huge career in front of him at Anfield, but in a recent interview, he has revealed that he could have been playing in Germany or with the other club in England as a teenager, as he rejected offers from Bayern Munich and Manchester United, two of the biggest clubs in Europe. But was that a wise decision? Though he is doing well at Anfield, here are 3 reasons why his Bayern and United snub could be a bad decision:

Recognition:

Yes, Origi will not be the first choice at the club at his age, but playing for a club that big, it will not have taken him too much time to make a name for himself. At Anfield also, he is far from the first choice and is only getting his chances due to injuries. Origi has a superb goal per game ratio in England and if he could have replicated the same with the big guns, he would easily be recognised as one of the best youngsters in the world. Liverpool are a team in the making and Origi has a chance to be an integral part of it but playing at clubs like Bayern and scoring regularly will get him recognition as one of the best in Europe even at his age.

Glory:

As already mentioned, Liverpool have not won the title in more than 20 years and the UCL in more than a decade. They are a club that have fallen in the last decade and are just trying to announce themselves at the biggest stage. The manager will surely try to win trophies for his side in years to come but Origi would surely have won more trophies at those clubs in a similar time. Klopp will surely make Liverpool great and Origi will have to have a say in it but clubs like Bayern enjoy regular success and will for decades to come. Surely, Origi may be missing out on it, plying his trade at Anfield.

His Game:

And most importantly, Divock Origi will miss out playing alongside some of the best players in the world. Though the likes of Philippe Coutinho are getting there, Liverpool hardly have enough star players to compete with the European heavyweights and this is something that can affect Origi’s game in years to come. Playing alongside the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Arjen Robben, Xabi Alonso, Frank Ribery, he would surely have learnt more and could have had a chance to join their names as the best in the world. He has a chance to do the same at Liverpool but he does not have players of that quality to help him on a daily basis which might have an effect on his game in the long term.

Do you think Origi was right in snubbing Manchester United and Bayern as a teenager?
