3 Reasons Why Manchester United Should Dodge A Bullet With This Real Madrid Star

Jose Mourinho is one of the most ambitious managers, not just in terms of winning, but also in the transfer market. The Portuguese manager has been looking to improve the squad in the summer and has been linked with a number of star players recently. One such name that is doing the rounds now is Real Madrid sensation Marco Asensio.

Reports today suggest that Jose Mourinho has made the 21-year old a priority transfer target after his unbelievable performances at the Spanish capital this season, but reports have suggested that the Spanish giants, who signed Asensio for just £3m in 2014, rates him highly and have marked a whopping £40m price tag on his head.

But the question is; Can he get the glory days back at the Old Trafford?

Real Madrid wants Manchester United to dig deep for his signature and here we give you three reasons why they do not need Asensio in the summer:

His experience:

The Spanish international, who already has a couple of caps for the senior national squad, is one of the most exciting players in the La Liga at the moment, but he has hardly played a game away from Spain. He is a part of the Champions League squad for Zinedine Zidane, but he is yet to get enough exposure to warrant a place at a club like Manchester United.

It is true that he has the potential to become a world-class player but Manchester United need a proven star who can take them a step ahead and if they sign Asensio, they will have to wait till he adjusts to the league. At just 21, he is still young and learning the game and is not the right option for Manchester United.

It is reported that Real Madrid will not listen to any offers below £40m in the summer and though it is not something that should scare the Old Trafford outfit, it is surely a price that needs a long thought. The 21-year old is potentially one of the best players in Europe at the moment but he is relatively unproven and has not even lasted a complete season in the Spanish top-flight. He has shown enough promise to warrant a place in some of the best clubs but he has not yet proven himself to be a player that demands a price tag of £40m in a few months time. Surely, there will be better options in the window at that price for Manchester United.

Quality of the squad:

Though Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney are at the final few years of their career, they are expected to play for the club for another year atleast and this leaves Asensio with little chance of first team football. United might be active in all 4 competitions till the end of the campaign next season but with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata, all waiting on the bench, it is hard to see Asensio move up the ladder anytime soon. The manager is also planning on adding a big money striker at the end of the season and if Mourinho manages to get someone like a Antoine Griezmann, Asensio will be nothing but a bench-warmer.
