3 Reasons Why This German Superstar Will Be A Better Signing For Arsenal Than Riyad Mahrez

Arsenal are in a bit of a pickle, they seem to have a lot of money to spend but are unsure about which player to get. One star that has been linked with a move to the Emirates is the Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez.

The 25-year-old Algerian was inspirational for the Foxes as he led them to the Premier League title and almost every top club in Europe has been vying for his signature. The winger has been linked with a move to Arsenal but the Gunners cannot seem to finalise a price for the tricky winger.

Another player who now seems to be linked with a move to the Emirates is Wolfsburg’s Julian Draxler; yes the same player who joined the German club at the start of last season by leaving his beloved Schalke side.

The 22-year-old might not have played in the Premier League but he could become a better signing for Arsenal than Mahrez and here are three reasons why.

Younger and hungrier

The 22-year-old is younger than Mahrez and that means he has a few more years in hand to provide Arsenal with a lot of services. The German also could come for a cheaper price than Mahrez and with him not having won much at club level, moving to Arsenal would give him a better chance of winning silverware than sticking with Wolfsburg.

The German might not be at the same level as Mahrez played last season but being three years younger, it should give Arsenal a player who wants to prove his ability on the biggest stage.

Can play in a range of positions

While Mahrez is great as a winger or even just behind the striker, Julian Draxler gives Arsenal a wealth of options as to where he can play. The German is just as comfortable playing right up on top as he is playing in the centre of midfield, though his attacking output would be greatly reduced if he does stick there.

The Wolfsburg star can also play as a striker should that come and he is equal comfortable on either foot. His passing, running and movement would also make him a great fit for the current Arsenal side and they already have a few Germans in the side, which should help Draxler acclimatise faster at the Emirates.

Is yet to reach his peak

This could be the deal clincher for Arsenal, while Mahrez might have reached his peak or is close to it; Draxler still has a lot of time on his hands and could only get better. Under Arsene Wenger, every young player does evolve and become much better over the years and this is something which can be expected if the Wolfsburg star does move to the Emirates.

The attacker still has not shown as much as he would have liked since his big money move from Schalke but playing for Arsenal along with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez should be a great learning experience for him and certainly he would provide a lot more to Arsenal at the moment and over the years than the incredible Algerian.
