Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich)
Having failed to establish himself as a first-team regular at Bayern, the Swiss captain looks finally set to move on from the Bavarian capital. The highly rated youngster has been touted for great things ever since his early days at Basel but a world class Munich line up has ensured that he has had to settle for extended spells on the bench. At the age of 23, Shaqiri needs playing time and United could look land him on loan or permanently in January.
Liverpool were heavily linked with him in the summer before he opted to stay and fight for his place at Bayern Munich. However his situation at the German champions hasn’t changed and Shaqiri is now pushing for a move away from the Allianz Arena. His agent revealed that he had been offered to Napoli but any chances of that move going ahead were quickly extinguished. In the past few weeks though, reports have begun to suggest that Manchester United could potentially be interested in acquiring his services as Van Gaal looks for a new wide man. If signed he would offer the Dutchman close ball control and impressive upper body strength as well as an eye for a pass and a thunderous shot. Signing Shaqiri could be a risk though as he hasn’t played a great deal of football recently but he won’t have gone backwards as a player under Pep Guardiola’s stewardship and could be available for a cut price.
