Three Rangers Players To Watch Out For During The International Break

The international break is here. Players will turn up for their countries over the coming week, with some looking to seal a place in the squad for the summer’s FIFA World Cup, while others whose teams have failed to qualify for the mega event will be hoping to make an impression on their managers and stake a claim for a regular place in the team.

Scottish giants Rangers have a few players who will be in action in the next few days and here we pick out three Gers to watch out for in the upcoming rounds of international friendlies.

Jamie Murphy (Scotland)

The 28-year-old has been in fine form since January, following his loan move to Rangers from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, on the basis of which he has been handed an international call-up by Scotland manager Alex McLeish.

Murphy, since moving to the Ibrox in the winter transfer window, has scored thrice and registered six assists in 11 games in all competitions, establishing himself as a key member of Graeme Murty’s side. He will be hoping to have a similar kind of impact when he makes his debut for Scotland in the upcoming fixtures.

Declan John (Wales)

The Rangers left-back has been called up by newly appointed Wales manager Ryan Giggs for their trip to China during the international break and he will be hoping to make an impression on his new boss.

John has had a solid season for the Gers since his summer move to Scotland from Cardiff City. Initially signed on loan, the Light Blues decided to make his move a permanent one after being impressed by his displays in the first half of the season. So far in the 2017/18 campaign, the 22-year-old has scored thrice and assisted 4 goals in 27 games in all competitions. Having recently returned from an injury, John will be hoping to shake off any ring rust and put in a solid display for his national team.

Jason Cummings (Scotland)

Another player who is on loan at Rangers since January and will be hoping to make a mark during the international break is Scotland striker Jason Cummings.

Cummings, who made his international debut in November last year, has been involved directly in six goals for the Gers (5 goals, 1 assist) in 12 games since joining on loan from Nottingham Forest.

Manager McLeish has decided to go for youth ahead of experience, leaving out established names like Chris Martin in favour of the young Cummings and Oliver McBurnie. The 22-year-old Cummings will be hoping to repay the faith of his manager with a goal or two should he get a chance to play against Costa Rica or Hungary.
