3 Quality signings Hull must make in January to escape relegation including Crystal Palace star

Three players Hull City must sign in January to escape relegation

Hull City are in a complete mess at the moment as they find themselves at the bottom of the Championship table. The Tigers have managed just eight points after 12 games, losing a staggering eight games so far this season.

Nigel Adkins currently has a big decision to make in terms of his side’s approach to the games after the international break. From the defence to the attack, Adkins doesn’t have top quality players to sustain the rigorous demands of the Championship and unless he brings in a few more players in January, the club’s condition could turn from bad to worse.

Therefore, it is very important for Hull to invest heavily in January in order to avoid relegation to the League One. That being said, here are three players the Tigers must try signing once the transfer window reopens.

Ryan Tafazolli (Peterborough United)

Ryan Tafazolli knows Adkins from their time at Southampton and the Hull City boss must make a move for the defender in January.

Hull have been leaking goals at an alarming rate this season and they clearly need defensive reinforcements to tighten things at the back. In that case, Tafazolli could be a smart signing for the Tigers.

The Iranian is a solid defender who is aerially dominant and is a tough tackler. Standing at 6ft 5in, the 27-year-old would be a commanding centre-back to have in the team and would be an aerial threat at the other end as well.

Tafazolli would be an ideal signing for the Tigers to enhance their chances of Championship survival this season.

Scott Hogan (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa forward Scott Hogan has been unlucky with injuries that has seen his promising career get derailed. Now that he is back to full fitness, Adkins could do well with a player of Hogan’s calibre in the attacking ranks.

Apart from Fraizer Campbell, none of Nouha Dicko, Chris Martin and Will Keane have provided Hull with the attacking flair.

This is why signing a new centre-forward would be so important for Hull and Hogan has all the attributes to succeed at KCOM stadium. Hogan is the sort of signing that Hull need to make in order to avoid relegation.

Jason Puncheon (Crystal Palace)

Hull City have lacked a cutting edge in the final third this season and Adkins could do a wonderful job if he manages to get his icy hands on Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon.

Puncheon played under Adkins at Southampton and the pair could work wonders together again. Jason is currently out of favour at Crystal Palace under Roy Hodgson and is in dire need of regular game time.

At 32, Puncheon still has a lot of gas left in his tank and could add flair to the Hull midfield. The former Southampton man would certainly add a lot of quality to the Hull squad.
