3 Quality loan signings that could help Celtic retain the Premiership title including Liverpool starlet

Celtic’s 2017/18 season was once again a rousing success, as they completed a consecutive domestic treble, having also achieved the feat last season.

The Hoops weren’t as dominant as they were in the 2016/17 campaign and showed some vulnerabilities throughout the season, which their rivals will look to capitalise on when the new season kicks off.

Despite possessing a solid squad, Brendan Rodgers will need to strengthen his ranks over the summer if his team are to continue their domestic domination once again.  

Given the tight budget that the Scottish clubs operate on in comparison to teams in some of the other European leagues, the loan market is a great avenue for the Hoops to find players who can contribute to their success next season.

Here are three players who Rodgers and Celtic should look to bring in on a temporary basis for the upcoming campaign; 

Dominic Solanke (Liverpool)

The 20-year-old has endured a difficult season after sealing a move to Liverpool from Chelsea last summer.

Solanke, in the 2017/18 campaign, managed just one goal and one assist from 27 appearances in all competitions, with his only goal coming in the Reds’ last Premier League game of the season against Brighton.  

Despite his struggles, Solanke remains a talented player with loads of unfulfilled potential and his exploits in the past with the Chelsea youth sides and his achievements with England U-20 stand as a proof of that.

If provided with regular game time, the youngster has what it takes to grow into a lethal striker and Celtic should definitely look to take a gamble on the Englishman.

Axel Tuanzebe (Manchester United, on loan at Aston Villa)

Currently away on loan with EFL Championship outfit Aston Villa, the 20-year-old Axel Tuanzebe hasn’t had a lot of game time coming his way at the Villa Park and has made just 5 appearances.

However, the Manchester United starlet remains a highly-rated talent in and around his parent club. Primarily a centre-back, Tuanzebe is capable of playing as a full-back and has done well in a holding midfield role as well.

Strong, tenacious and good with the ball at his feet, he could provide some much-needed bench strength to the Hoops defence. 

Mason Mount (Chelsea)

The 19-year-old has been tipped as the next big thing to come out of Chelsea’s academy and if his performances this past season for loan club Vitesse are anything to go by, then the hype surrounding him makes total sense.  

In the 2017/18 season, Mount came up with amazing returns of 13 goals and 10 assists in 40 games across all competitions, helping Vitesse achieve qualification to the UEFA Europa League for next season.

A creative attacking midfielder who can score goals in plenty himself, the Englishman has also shown versatility, having slotted in comfortably on the flanks and in a No.8 role.  

With first-team chances at Chelsea unlikely to come, Celtic should look to bring the 19-year old on loan, as it would help them add more creativity and guile to their attacking play while also potentially relieving some of the goalscoring burdens on their main players.
