Jose Mourinho took over the managerial job at Manchester United from his “old friend” Louis van Gaal, who was sacked by the Premier League giants at the end of the previous campaign. The Dutchman failed to deliver on the big promises that he had made on his arrival, though he managed to win the FA Cup prior to his departure. The former Chelsea boss will now be expected to turn things around at the club, though it will surely not be an easy job for any individual, “special” or not!!
There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed among the Red Devils’ squad and it will be interesting to see how the Portuguese manager handles things and how it is different from his predecessors. Whatever said and done, it will be an interesting season for the Online Soccer Betting community.
With that said and done, here are three problems that Mourinho might face at the start of his United career:
3. Departure of some first choice stars:
With the arrival of Mourinho at the club, some of the first team players might prefer to walk away, rather than to play for him. Amongst such players could be stars like Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata, Sergio Romero and possibly a few others as well. Though, their preferred destinations are not fixed yet, it will be interesting how Mourinho looks to retain some of these talented stars and whether or not, he is able to bring in enough reinforcements to avoid any sort of problems next term.
2. Potential injury crisis:
With the Copa America tournament going on and the Euro 2016 coming up, a lot of players from the United squad will be engaged in regular football over the upcoming weeks. The players will be involved in an intense battle to lift another title and could possibly face burn-out or might get injured during this time. If this is the case and Mourinho does not have luck on his side, it could mean that an injury crisis could hit him at United, disrupting all his plans for the upcoming campaign. It will then be up to the manager to adapt and adjust, with the players that he will have available to him.
1. Failure to identify the best playing eleven:
This is one major problem that Van Gaal faced at Manchester as well. It nearly took the Dutchman a year to actually figure out, what his best playing eleven was. The former Barcelona and Ajax manager tried various combinations of players in different positions, till he finally found the right pairings. The fans and management would hope that Mourinho does not take the same amount of time and can do a better job at the club, as they wish to get back to winning some major titles in the near future.
