Three Players With Champions League Experience Who Liverpool Should Target
Jurgen Klopp was all smiling at the weekend as Liverpool put in a solid performance to take all three points from Middlesbrough in the final game of the season, helping themselves to a place in the qualifying round of the Champions League next season. The squad at the disposal at Anfield is a bit weak and Klopp has some serious plans for his side this summer.
He has been linked with some of the best stars around Europe and with UCL football to offer, he might be able to land a few this summer when the transfer window opens. With a huge transfer kitty to spend from, here are three players with Champions League experience who Klopp should target this summer:
Douglas Costa (Bayern Munich)
The Brazilian winger is one of the best players in his position at the moment in Europe but is excess to requirements at the Allianz Arena. He is looking for regular game time and is ready to quit Germany this summer and Italian side Juventus have recently dropped out from the race for his signature. He is a star player and if Liverpool can add him to their squad, the pace of Sadio Mane on one side and Douglas Costa on the other could form a devastating partnership in the Premier League.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal)
Though he is not the big name that Liverpool fans are dreaming of, the Ox is actually a smart signing for Liverpool. Capable of playing in more than one position, Oxlade-Chamberlain is still not the first choice for Arsene Wenger and it is hard to see him stick at the Emirates for another season. His contract runs out at the end of the next campaign so Arsenal might be forced to sell and Anfield is not at all a bad destination for the English midfielder.
Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)
The French international is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe at the moment and is just the kind of player Liverpool have lacked this season. With instinctive finishing being his biggest strength, Lacazette has already revealed that he is finally ready to quit the French club and there is no shortage of suitors. Arsenal are interested in his signature but with the lack of UCL football at the Emirates, Lacazette might prefer a move to Anfield this summer. Adding him will add goals and another dimension to the Liverpool attack.
