3 Players Who Could Follow Paul Pogba To Manchester United

The arrival of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United has excited every football fan. A lot is expected from him and he has been handed the task of bringing the glory days back to Old Trafford. And the Portuguese has already made three big signings. Mourinho has signed Eric Bailly, (the) Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who will have a big impact next season. Also, Paul Pogba, once a Man United player, is on Mourinho’s radar. Manchester United are expected to pay Pogba’s release clause, which can break all transfer records. Mourinho is expected to make 2-3 more signings and here are 3 players who could follow Pogba to United.

1.) Blaise Matuidi

Reports suggest that Manchester United are after Pogba’s France teammate Blaise Matuidi. Matuidi was thought to be an alternative if the Pogba deal fell through but now it seems that Mourinho is keen on bringing both the French midfielders to Old Trafford. The 29-year-old had a good season at PSG, scoring 6 goals and registering 6 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions. Matuidi carried this good form into the Euro 2016, helping France reach the final. If United complete the signings of Pogba as well as Matuidi, it will form a strong midfield pairing. Chances of Matuidi coming to Old Trafford are more and he will make for a very good signing.

2.) Hirving Lozano

The name is not familiar to many people but Hirving Lozano is one of the most exciting talents in world football. The 20-year-old Mexican forward has already been capped 7 times for the national side. Lozano plays for Pachuca and has already made 91 appearances for the club, which shows how good and important a player he is. In 91 appearances, he has scored 21 times and he provides a great goal scoring threat. Lozano has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford after Pachuca vice-president Andres Fassi revealed to ESPN that the club had held talks with United. The deal will not be completed until the Rio Olympics end as Lozano has been named in Mexico’s 18-man squad. But if the deal happens, it will be a good signing for Manchester United.

3.) Joao Mario

Joao Mario has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer. Mourinho is interested in Mario after he gave impressive displays last season not only for Sporting Lisbon but also for the Portuguese national side. United earmarked the Portugal international as a viable target after missing out on Benfica’s Renato Sanches, who will join Bayern Munich next month. Mario made 33 appearances for Lisbon last season and managed to score 6 goals. Some have even compared him to Spanish playmaker Andres Iniesta. Mario was one of Portugal’s best players in the Euro this year. He does not have the pace or the build but he reads the game well and is excellent at the centre of the park. Signing Joao Mario will be a good move for United.
