3 Players That Could Follow Ragnar Klavan To Liverpool This Summer

Jurgen Klopp has completed the signing of Estonian centre back Ragnar Klavan to bolster Liverpool’s defense. Injuries to Mammadou Sakho and Joe Gomez made it necessary for Klopp to sign a centre back and Ragnar Klavan seems to be a good option. Liverpool need a balanced squad if they want to compete for the top-4 next season. Recruitments at a few positions would mean Liverpool will have a balanced squad next season. Many players have been linked with Liverpool this summer, the list including players like Gonzalo Higuain, Mario Gotze, Jonas Hector and a lot more. The signing of Ragnar Klavan shows that Liverpool are pretty much active in the transfer window and a few more signings are possible. Here are 3 players that could follow Klavan to Liverpool.

1.) Georginio Wijnaldum

The Newcastle man has been heavily linked with Liverpool for the past few days. Reports suggest that Liverpool are ready to pay anything between 15 and 20 million pounds for the Dutchman , while Newcastle have priced him at 25 million pounds. Also, Newcastle have possibly included Lucas Leiva in the deal. Wijnaldum had a great season at Newcastle but he couldn’t save them from relegation. Wijnaldum has more potential than playing in the Championship.

Last season, he scored 11 goals and registered 5 assists in 38 appearances in the League. He is a versatile player and can play at almost all positions in the midfield. He is attack minded and his pace and passing skill will add a lot of threat to Liverpool’s attack. Klopp’s preferred formation in the pre season has been 4-3-3 and if Wijnaldum joins Liverpool, he will be played on the left of the 3-man midfield and will have the freedom to burst forward. Liverpool should complete the deal in the next few days.

2.) Ben Chilwell

The young Leicester City left-back has been on Liverpool’s radar ever since the transfer window opened. Liverpool need a left back before the new campaign starts. Reports suggest that an offer for Chilwell had been rejected by Leicester and Liverpool are looking to make an improved offer. Bem Chilwell is just 19 but he has loads of potential. Moreno has been criticized for his defending and Liverpool need a more defensive left back. Ben Chilwell is a good option and he can be a good alternative for Moreno. Time is on Moreno’s side so he can hone his defensive qualities but Chilwell can be developed into a world class left back under Klopp and he will have his best years under Klopp.

3.) Marcelo Brozovic

The Croatian’s performances in the Serie A last season and in the Euro 2016 have drawn attention from Klopp. Brozovic plays primarily as a central midfielder for Inter Milan and scored 4 goals and registered 5 assists in 32 appearances last season in Serie A. Brozovic is aa versatile player and can play at various positions in the midfield through the centre as well as on the right. His defensive contributions are better than the attacking contributions. His tackle timing is quite good and loves to make tackles. He provides good support to his centre backs as well as to the right back. Also, he has the ability to play good through balls and is very composed with the ball at his feet. He carried his good form into the EUROs this year and was the backbone of the Croatian midfield. Adding him to the squad will bolster Liverpool’s central midfield.
