A constant problem for Manchester United over the last years has been their lack of goals. Selling the likes of Robin Van Persie and Chicharito and not really buying any replacements hasn’t helped. The signing of Anthony Martial and the promotion of Marcus Rashford to the first team has been a new boost though. They’ve breathed real life into the United attack and scored crucial goals to get them out of trouble time and time again. Jose Mourinho has come in and looked to straightaway bolster the attack. Various media such as outlets such as Sky Sports have stated that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is due in Manchester for a medical. It is still possible that the deal can fall through and these are 3 replacements that United can sign instead of Zlatan.
1. Harry Kane- The Tottenham man has been linked to United in the past. Although he looked woefully out of form at EURO 2016, he was in tremendous form in the League. With 25 goals in the League, he was the winner of the Golden Boot as well. His work ethic is great and his off the ball movement is very good. His hold up play is great as well and he likes taking shots from distance, usually to good effect. His performances have led pundits to compare him to Alan Shearer. He’s also someone that has been proven in the Premier League and will not need much time to adjust to the adversities of the English game. He is a traditional centre-forward.
2. Paulo Dybala- Dybala managed 23 goals across 41 appearances during the course of the season which is more than any United player managed. One of his strongest attributes is his dribbling and he completed 3.7 per game last season. He’s also a major threat from indirect set pieces and is good at holding on to the ball. He’s also very young just, being just 22 years old.
3. Robert Lewandowski- Although it is highly unlikely that the German Champions will sell him, the Polish striker will be an excellent buy for United. While Lewandowski is yet to hit his stride for Poland at EURO 2016, he was in scintillating form for Bayern Munich during the course of the season, scoring an impressive 42 goals in 55 appearances. . The fact that he’s being used as an out-and- out goal striker is helping him. His positioning is generally very good and he often finds himself in the right place at the right time. He is good on the ball and not easily dispossessed. His aerial ability makes him an added threat.
