3 Players Who Could Follow Zlatan Ibrahimovic To Manchester United

Jose Mourinho took charge of Manchester United, just days after Louis Van Gaal was sacked following the FA Cup win. With United out of the Champions League next season, he can utilize all his energy on the domestic campaign and on getting United back amongst the big boys of Europe. The Red Devils confirmed the signing of Eric Bailly soon after Mourinho took over but the most exciting piece of news came in last night, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced on instagram that his next destination was Old Trafford. Yesterday his contract with PSG expired, following which he wrote on Instagram: “Time to let the world know. My next destination is @manchesterunited #iamcoming”.

The Special One always seemed to be number one choice to take over the reins at Old Trafford, who despite winning the FA Cup, have flattered to deceive in the Premier League in recent years. He was sacked from Chelsea mid-way last season but that hasn’t dented his reputation one bit as he looks to bring success to the red half of Manchester. Although United have signed two players, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the squad, which is in dire need of fresh blood. Here are the three players we think will follow Ibrahimovic to Manchester United.

Paul Pogba

Allowing the 23 year old to leave Manchester United, might have been Sir Alex Ferguson’s biggest mistake during his tenure, as Pogba has since transformed into one of the most lethal midfielders in Europe. It might take a record bid for United to re-sign the Frenchman but signing the youngster could prove to be the best piece of business Mourinho does this summer. He has also been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid, therefore it will require strong persuasion on the part of Jose Mourinho to bring Pogba to Old Trafford this summer.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Henrikh Mkhitarayan all summer. If he does decide to join United, he would be following in the footsteps of Shinji Kagawa, another attacker who had enjoyed a superb spell at the German club before moving to United. Mkhitaryan is a prolific goalscorer, having scored 23 goals in 53 games last season. Mkhitaryan alongside Ibrahimovic upfront will keep a lot of defenders awake at night. His versatility will be key, as he is capable of playing anywhere along the front line, his pace and trickery will be very useful for United during counter attacks.

Nemanja Matic

There are suggestion amongst the football fraternity, that Mourinho might raid his former clubs, in order to get the players that could best fit his playing style. It has been reported that Matic will be one of the players the Portuguese will look to lure from Stamford Bridge. The 27 year old Serb enjoyed a terrific season, during Chelsea’s title winning campaign, protecting the back four solidly and breaking up attacks. He had a terrible last season with a Blues and a change of scenery might do go for all parties involved.
