3 Players Chelsea Should Sell ASAP: Including This Beast Defender

Let’s not revise the fact that how bad Chelsea have been this season. Yes, they have been awful but, leave it at that. The board may think it was the Manager’s (Jose Mourinho) attitude that led the team down but well, it’s a fact that the players are also should get blamed for the same.

Chelsea have now announced the arrival of the Italian manager Antonio Conte and the rumor’s buzz has been started already. So many Italian players have been linked to the clubs. Well, the time and the manager will decide who will join the club in the coming transfer. One of the key areas where the manager will have to work is the defence. Terry is on the verge of leaving the club and, Ivanovic hasn’t been that good this season. He will have to find the options in the defence. And there is a fact that we cannot forget, Chelsea has a small army that has been out on loan so, the manager will have to keep every aspect in mind before taking any major step.

Well, besides signings, the fans are curious to know that who amongst the present squad will be offloaded this summer. So, we are making it easy for you as we prepare a list of 3 players that Chelsea should sell this summer-

Loic Remy-

I still can’t figure it out that why Chelsea signed him into the squad. Since his arrival at the Bridge from QPR last season, he has been struggling to set a strong foot in the squad. Recently, Bertrand Traore has shown a great composure and now went ahead of Remy in the queue for the starting XI.

He was a great hit in Newcastle as he netted 8 goals in his 12 appearances for the club, but this season, he was good for nothing. In his 13 appearances this term for the club, the French International has scored just 1 goal and has a very poor shooting accuracy as well (50%). The new manager will bring new signings, new tactics and a new style of play in which I personally feel, Remy won’t fit. Cuadrado is likely to return to the Bridge and looking at the attacking options Conte have, Remy won’t have a chance to be a part of the team. And if he wants to gain a top form, he needs a move away from London.

John Obi Mikel-

Everyone saw this coming isn’t it? At some point in his career, he was wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea. He opted to join Chelsea in 2006. After spending almost 10 years at the club, he has some handful of goals to his name. Even though he was a star performer under Hiddink, Chelsea have better midfielders than Obi Mikel in the shape of Nemanja Matic and RLC

He is pretty good but, sometimes makes horrendous mistakes at the back that cause problems for the defence. After the announcement of Conte’s arrival, Radja Nainggolan has been heavily linked to the club and if that transfer happens, he will have to find an another club if he tends to stay in the sport. He hasn’t scored any goal this season in the premier league and surely he won’t fit in the plans of Antonio Conte. The manager relies on the pace which Mikel lacks and that’s the reason he is on our list.

Branislav Ivanovic-

Undoubtedly, the most hardworking player in Chelsea’s squad this season. He has been one of Chelsea’s most solid defenders and in many ways and is able to play a variety of roles defensively but, it isn’t working for the Serb anymore. He has been heavily criticized for being too easy to get past through.

As we are aware of the fact that Conte usually uses 3 defenders at the back and the defenders have to be quick and strong both physically and mentally. No offence but, Ivanovic has been lacking in both the attributes this season. At right back he has been consistently exposed by numerous wingers this season.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A. A change of pace and environment might again bring out a best in him and it will be a good chance for Chelsea to establish some young guns at the back.
