3 Players Who Could Change Arsenal Into Title Challengers Next Season

With the season ending and Arsenal miraculously finished second, planning for next season begins and that would only mean the search for a few top players is on. Arsene Wenger did recently say that the side needs three players and that would make them title contenders or even more in Europe, as long as they get the right players.

Wenger has often spoken about spending wads of cash on the right players and this would mean that the French manager uses his nous in getting the best talent for the right prices. Arsenal over the years have spent big when they needed to, like bringing in Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil but more often than not, the side does fall flat especially during the fag end of a season.

The Gunners can celebrate coming ahead of their rivals Tottenham, but they should have done miles better in the Premier League than they did this campaign. They did do one thing right and they got the signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea. The Czech goalkeeper has been a rock at the back for the Gunners, even if he did have a few iffy moments in his first season at the Emirates.

That should have saved any issues with the goalkeeping department for a couple of years more, but Arsenal need to have a few players more to fix a lot of big problems. They need a world class central defender, a central striker and a world class winger at least.

Olivier Giroud seems to be a good striker, but that only happens in half of the number of games he plays. Theo Walcott is no more a good winger anymore, he cannot seem to put in those great performances that he was known for and well, the earlier Arsene gets a top quality central defender the better.

Mats Hummels was one target that the Gunners could have tried to sign but he has since moved on to Bayern Munich. This does leave the window open for a few central defenders from Munich and one player in particular could move, Javi Martinez or even Mehdi Benatia. Both cannot start in defence and if Wenger does put in the right amount, he could sign someone up.

There are a number of wingers that Arsene could try to sign, especially the Atletico Madrid stars of Antoine Griezmann and Yannick Carrasco, while Griezmann might not be willing to move, Carrasco could be the difference maker for the side.

For the striking department it might be very tough to get one player who is world class and willing to move away. Alexandre Lacazette though could be the player that does move to Arsenal. He is French, hasn’t had the best season for Lyon, though he did come second in the Ligue 1 top scorers list and has excellent movement and finishing, something that Arsenal need.

The trio could be the best deal that Wenger does pull of and with them in the side and the rest of the players fit, who knows how well the Gunners do next season.
