3 Manchester United Players Who Could Revive Their Careers Under Jose Mourinho Next Season

With Jose Mourinho arriving at the Theatre of Dreams, the expectations of the fans are now sky high. After an abysmal season under the Dutch gaffer Louis van Gaal, the new manager will be looking forward to bring the Devils right back on the track.

Mourinho will surely be facing the toughest task of his career as he needs to rebuild the entire team and for that, he needs to be very patient. Any aggressive action might cost the team at any point, and the new manager must keep that point in mind.

Jose Mourinho is known for his in match and post-match reactions, and this sometimes affects the reputation of the club. Manchester United never had a manager who mocked the media or the opposition manager, but the fans might see this in the coming season.

Anyway, coming on to the point; Mourinho needs to take care of certain positions in order to bring the good old days back to Old Trafford. But besides all those signings, Mourinho needs to assess the current squad, and will have to find out the talents who are yet to reach the peak.

Well, there were many players who didn’t have a wonderful season, but as of now everyone is aware of Mourinho’s management, it is expected that some of them might revive under the Portuguese manager, and here, we list out 3 players who could revive under Jose Mourinho in the next season:

    1. Memphis Depay-

The 22-year-old Dutch was bought by Louis van Gaal last summer, and soon after his arrival, he was compared to Chelsea’s star Eden Hazard. Memphis Depay is one of the quickest players on the pitch and his techniques can easily haunt the opposition defence. Unfortunately, the Dutch international failed to live up to his expectations and was categorized under one of the worst signings of the 2015-16 campaign.

It is clearly understood that you cannot judge the player who has been poor in a single season. Well, the 22-year-old did score 50+ goals for PSV in his 4 year tenure and a lot was expected soon after his arrival. Maybe it was the pressure he was forced upon, but to be completely honest, Depay might get back to his previous best under Mourinho. Even Hazard had a difficult first season with the Blues, but the Belgian settled well and Mourinho might use Depay just like he used Hazard.

    1. Matteo Darmian-

The 26-year-old was bought from the Italian side Torino, for whom, he made more than 150 appearances. There were no questions asked about his top-flights experience, but the Italian full back didn’t have the season he would have wished for. Darmian is quite a versatile player and can be easily deployed at either flanks. Darmian did score a screamer against Crystal Palace last season and gave a perfect glimpse of his attacking prowess, but he lacked in the defensive part of the game.

Darmian is a perfect example that not every player can bear the pressure of the Premier League. He was sloppy in his defending and gave away the balls very easily. The Italian has his entire career ahead of him, and has the ability to out power many of the players in the League. We honestly feel that working under Mourinho might help him to improve, and he can easily become one of the best full backs in the Premier League.

    1. Morgan Schneiderlin-

The 26-year-old was also bought last summer by Louis van Gaal, but he failed to replicate his previous form. The Frenchman spent 7 wonderful seasons with Southampton where he made more than 250 appearances, scoring 15 goals, but Schneiderlin failed badly at Old Trafford. The Frenchman is exceptional when it comes to passing, but while talking about the defensive resilience, he managed to win just 35% of his average duels.

With Michael Carrick and Schweinsteiger aging, the burden will on Scheiderlin’s shoulder. It is understood that Mourinho prefers quick and tough players and that’s why, Carrick might see his role getting debarred, and therefore, Mourinho will have to use Scheiderlin as a holding midfielder. The Frenchman is surely capable of intercepting opposition’s attacks, but he needs to concentrate on the game and working under Mourinho can easily help his cause.
