Three Managers Who Can Replace Antonio Conte At Chelsea

Defending champions Chelsea have not endured the best of times this season despite winning the Premier League title on an emphatic note last season. Right from their opening day defeat to Burnley to their recent 4-1 loss to Watford, the Blues have been through a rollercoaster of ups and downs throughout the season so far.

With the remaining half of the season ahead of us, it has been deduced that the fans are quite frustrated with manager Antonio Conte.

It is not just the fact that they are losing games – the way Conte has dealt with the team, in general, has just messed things up for the Blues. Losing a player like Diego Costa over an unnecessary feud was just the tip of the iceberg. Eventually, Nemanja Matic left as well – a void that has cost the Blues quite a lot this season – and now a similar situation seems to be brewing with veteran centre-back David Luiz.

There are a lot more underlying issues but all this is enough to suggest that Conte might be headed out the exit door once the season comes to an end. If that were to happen, here are 3 managers who could potentially replace the fiery Italian.

Luis Enrique

Enrique needs absolutely no introduction since we have all seen what he is capable of with Barcelona. Having managed in Spain and Italy, the manager might relish the thought of locking horns against the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

Moreover, moving to Chelsea will undoubtedly come as a massive opportunity for Enrique, who is currently enjoying a sabbatical. After tasting a lot of success with Barcelona, managing the Blues could be his next stint and given the team he will inherit and the financial backing, Enrique can work wonders.

Marco Silva

Silva was hailed as the most dynamic and ambitious manager in the initial stages of the Premier League this season. He worked brilliantly with the Hornets, the effect of which was apparent as they audaciously broke into the top six for a few weeks.

However, as time wore on, so did their performances and ultimately he was replaced with Javi Gracia. That said, Silva is skilled and technically knowledgeable as a manager but he just needs the right team – just like Chelsea are in need of the right manager.

Diego Simeone

The Atletico Madrid manager has proven time and again that he has what it takes to single-handedly lead a team towards glory. Over the years, Simeone has also managed to bring about a sense of stability at the Wanda Metropolitana – and that is something Chelsea are in dire need of.

More than winning trophies, perhaps the Chelsea management should now prioritize building a legacy and to that end, a composed figure like Simeone can work wonders.
