3 Liverpool Players Who Have More Scope To Develop And Play At Other Clubs Rather Than The Merseyside

Jurgen Klopp has already signed 2 players this summer and is linked with a few more. Due to the new arrivals, some of Liverpool’s current squad members might not get proper game time and their development might hinder at Anfield. Also, there is no European football next season so the squad might get thinner. This could be a blessing in disguise for some of the players. Here are three players who have better development opportunities if they leave Liverpool.

1.) Jordon Ibe

Jordon Ibe joined Liverpool from Wycombe Wanderers in 2011 when he was just 16. Ibe rose quickly through the youth ranks and made his senior team debut for Liverpool at the age of 19. The youngsters showed some great performances in his first season under Brendan Rodgers and was expected to become a star at Liverpool. Although he was not a regular in the starting eleven, he showed some excellent displays in the matches where he got a chance.

But last season, Ibe saw a sudden slump in form which meant he lost out on his place in the starting eleven. Since Jurgen Klopp took over, Adam Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino have been preferred for a role in the 3 men attacking midfield. Ibe has got the talent and has shown glimpses of what he can be do, but with more experienced and talented players in the squad he might not get the opportunity.

2.) Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke had an excellent 2014-15 campaign at Aston Villa, scoring 16 goals in the Premier League. His performances helped him earn an offer from Liverpool and he joined the Reds at the beginning of last season. But at Liverpool, he could never find his footing and had a terrible season. He couldn’t adjust to Jurgen Klopp’s style of play and lost his place in the starting eleven to Divock Origi. Liverpool’s attacking play is more through the center rather than the flanks. Benteke is not very agile and so the high pressing game does not suit him.

Benteke needs to be a part of the team where he gets in good crosses from the flanks and he can use his aerial abilities. At Liverpool he was just a shadow of what he was at Aston Villa. Also, Liverpool are looking for a new striker and Klopp has more faith in Origi than Benteke.  So Benteke will possibly not get his chance at Liverpool and joining a new club is the best option for him.

3.) Joe Allen

Joe Allen was signed by Brendan Rodgers in 2012 form Swansea City. Allen could never prove his worth at the club owing to inconsistency. Allen has developed a lot since Jurgen Klopp took over and has shown his talent and skill. Although he has developed, he still hasn’t got proper game time under Klopp. Allen has stiff competition for a place in the starting eleven from midfielders who are more talented than him.

Allen gave some excellent performances this season, but latest signings mean his place even on the bench seems uncertain. Allen has the potential of becoming a world class player but he will not get his chance at Liverpool. Reports suggest that Allen could join Sevilla and that would be a better move considering the game time he will have at the La Liga outfit. Many fans do not want Allen to leave but for a better future, leaving Liverpool seems to be the best option for Allen.
