3 Left-backs Liverpool Could Target In January To Solve Klopp’s Headache

Liverpool have been a major surprise for everyone this season, being the most effective team on the offensive side of the ball and sitting at the top of the Premier League table despite having some serious defensive liabilities.

Jurgen Klopp has printed his style at Anfield and his team is a serious contender to win the Premier League title for the first time in their successful history, but there’s still some room for improvement for the reds in order to become a major force in Europe as they used to be in their golden years.

One of the main concerns to start the season for Liverpool was the defensive side of the pitch, and they brought Loris Karius, Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip in order to fix those defensive woes that kept them out of the top 4 in the past few years.

However, the left back position is still a big issue for Klopp and his team, even if James Milner has done a pretty decent job this year playing at that position, sending Alberto Moreno to the bench. So, keeping that in mind, you know that Klopp and his team should be on the hunt for another left back during this upcoming transfer window, and we’ll take a look at 3 choices that they should consider.

Aaron Cresswell – West Ham United

The 26-year-old has proven to be a very reliable guy in both ends of the pitch, and given how low his price is in comparison to his talent, he could be a nice addition to Klopp’s team if he decides to leave a disastrous West Ham team in order to play for a contender.

Cresswell is a pretty outstanding crosser, dribbler and passer, although he needs to improve his tackling and timing against faster forwards, he’s a pretty decent player overall and given how desperate Liverpool is, he’s a very viable option.

Jonas Hector – FC Koln

The 26-year-old from Germany has already been linked with Liverpool for more than a dozen of times, and even if he has made very clear that he wishes to stay with the German side, Klopp should definitely consider making a run at his compatriot.

Hector was one of Europe’s revelations during the past Euros, and his versatility and outstanding defensive talent made him one of the complete players that they could sign during this next transfer window.

Luke Shaw – Manchester United

Shaw is one of England’s best prospects but he’s not in a very good position right now, and that’s something Liverpool should definitely take advantage of, as the youngster has a lot of talent and can provide a major boost for his side if he winds up leaving Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to like Shaw whatsoever and he has made very harsh comments about the left back, and even if he has stated that he’s keen to make his Manchester United career a success, it’s very unlikely that he changes the mind of a stubborn guy like the Portuguese boss.
