Three ideal Premier League destinations for Mateo Kovacic
Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic has revealed that he will leave Real Madrid this summer and the Premier League clubs are interested in getting him. Big clubs namely Manchester United, Manchester City have joined the race to sign the 24-year-old.
Kovacic is a quality player who is not able to get regular game time at the Bernabeu, mainly because of Casemiro making the defensive midfield spot his own. The Croat now has the option of leaving the Spanish capital to let his football do the talking elsewhere. He has a release clause of £443m.
Let us take a look at the three ideal Premier League destinations for the player:
Chelsea
With Paris Saint-Germain interested in swooping for N’Golo Kante, Chelsea will need a midfielder to replace the Frenchman if he leaves. In that case, Kovacic can arrive at Stamford Bridge and make a telling difference.
The 24-year-old is a quality player who possesses fantastic passing ability mixed with his ineptness to read the game perfectly. He can control the game according to his own pace, which is most needed in a hullabaloo league like the English top-flight.
Manchester United
Manchester United probably need a midfielder to either replace Nemanja Matic or deputise him. Kovacic will certainly be an upgrade in terms of his passing and picking out incisive through balls.
The Croat can also play in a double-pivot alongside Matic in games where Jose Mourinho would need more protection.
It will act as a catalyst for a perfect central midfield partnership as both players can do their defensive jobs diligently with Kovacic moving forward with the ball to thread passes to the forward line as well.
In addition, choosing to swap Bernabeu for the Old Trafford won’t be a bad option at all.
Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs can heavily benefit from having the Croat in their squad, due to Victor Wanyama’s injury problems. Kovacic will bring a new dimension to their midfield.

Not only can he read games and break up the opposition attack, his propensity to win balls in the midfield and start a counter-attack all by himself is something impeccable. He can act as a ball carrier to slow the game down, by using his physicality to shrug off challenges.
