3 Ideal loan destinations for Chelsea’s World Cup star including Newcastle United

3 Ideal loan destinations for Chelsea starlet Ruben Loftus Cheek

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek enjoyed an impressive loan campaign with Crystal Palace last term. He made a total of 24 Premier League appearances for the Eagles last, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.

The youngster saw his efforts rewarded with a spot in England’s World Cup squad. Loftus-Cheek brought stability and guile to Palace’s midfield.

The London outfit made a horrendous start to their season last term but eventually finished 11th in the Premier League under the guidance of Roy Hodgson. Loftus-Cheek was one of their standout performers in the league last season. The midfielder has now returned to his parent club Chelsea.

However, here are three ideal destinations Loftus-Cheek should he decide to leave the Blues again this summer.

Leicester City

Leicester are far from the team which won the Premier League title in the 2015/16 campaign as they had to satisfied with mid-table finishes for the past two seasons. Loftus-Cheek would be a great fit for the Foxes, who finished ninth last term.

The youngster can slot into a central midfield role with elan at the King Power Stadium. And with Loftus-Cheek operating as a box-to-box midfielder, it would leave Marc Albrighton to play in a more advanced role.

Loftus-Cheek could form a formidable partnership with Wilfred Ndidi at the middle of the park for Leicester. The 22-year-old’s driving runs into the box will prove a handful for opposition defenders. Claude Puel should certainly go for the youngster, who seems to be progressing at a rapid rate.

Newcastle United

The Magpies made a strong return to the Premier League last term, finishing in 10th place. Rafa Benitez will now be aiming to bring in fresh faces to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign. Newcastle have been linked with making a move for Loftus-Cheek, following his impressive performances for Crystal Palace last season.

Newcastle require stability in the middle of the park as at times their midfield looked blank and clueless on the ball in the 2017/18 campaign. Jonjo Shelvey is the only pure central midfielder in the squad and there is always huge pressure on the former Liverpool man to deliver the goods for Newcastle.

And bringing in Loftus-Cheek should help in taking some of that pressure off Shelvey. Benitez would only benefit from bringing in a player like Loftus-Cheek.

Crystal Palace

Why not? The midfielder had a superb campaign with the Eagles last term. He was their main man in midfield, making devastating runs down the flanks and linking brilliantly with Wilfried Zaha.

Loftus-Cheek is a perfect box-to-box midfielder, who could be the engine for Crystal Palace at the middle of the park.

Having already worked together with Hodgson last season, Palace is a relatively safe option for the midfielder. And Hodgson could be the perfect mentor to take Loftus-Cheek’s career to the next level.
