3 goals, 3 assists in 14 games – West Ham signing this highly rated Ligue 1 sensation would massively boost their creativity

Why West Ham must make a move for Morgan Sanson in January

West Ham have drastically recovered after a slow start to the new Premier League season that saw them lose their first four games.

The Hammers have looked in good nick in the last two matches in the Premier League as they clinched back-to-back wins against Newcastle United and Cardiff City. The victories came on the back of a 4-0 mauling at the hands of Manchester City, which shows the amount of self-belief and spirit Manuel Pellegrini has been able to instil in the side this season.

However, Manuel Pellegrini has to deal with a number of injury problems as the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko are set for long spells on the sidelines. If the injuries to Yarmolenko and Lanzini were not enough, West Ham suffered another body blow earlier this month when Marko Arnautovic was ruled out until the New Year with a hamstring injury.

The injury to Arnautovic is definitely a massive setback given how the Hammers have been overly dependent on him for goals this season. However, Pellegrini will hope the likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez step up in the Austrian’s absence as we head into the busy run of fixtures.

Morgan Sanson

But in terms of creativity, West Ham have no other option than Felipe Anderson, who has truly been fantastic since joining the club from Lazio at the start of the season.

That said, the Hammers must look to sign Marseille star Morgan Sanson in January. The Frenchman, who joined Marseille from Montpellier in January 2017, has scored three goals and supplied as many assists in 14 Ligue 1 games this season. He played in the 2018 Europa League final with Marseille, which they lost 3-0 to Atletico Madrid.

Morgan Sanson, 24, is a technically gifted and tactically versatile midfielder who can operate vertically through the midfield, either defensively, centrally or in an advanced role behind the striker. But he is more suited to the No.10 role, which enables him to create opportunities for his teammates and score goals.

Known for his ability to create his own space in the midfield, Sanson uses his sharpness and agility to good effect, leaving the opposition for dead with his sharp turns, silky dribbling skills and anticipation.

He is an excellent passer of the ball and uses his outstanding vision to pick out the right pass at the right time. Apart from that, the Frenchman is a player with a lot of tenacity and stamina, and can contribute a lot to the team with his high work rate.

To put things into perspective, Sanson would be a brilliant signing for West Ham. The player will add more creativity to Pellegrini’s squad.
