3 Free Transfers That Worked A Treat For Arsenal: This Tottenham Star Moved For Trophies

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have been two of the biggest transfers in the history of the Premier League and is certainly a different course of action taken by Arsene Wenger. The French manager doesn’t really spend a lot of money when it comes to transfers but this was something that he needed to do to fix the team.

Free transfers are some of the biggest gambles in the world. For every success that is Michael Ballack, you do get players such as Radamel Falcao, well he isn’t a free transfer but imagine if Manchester United or Chelsea actually had to pay for his services.

Arsenal have a great chance of winning the Primer League with a great squad they have at the moment but we look back at the transfers during the Premier League era and list out three free transfers that worked wonderfully for the Gunners.

The Frenchman seems to have made his career on free transfers. He joined the Gunners on a free from Marseille in 2004 and instantly became one of the best midfielders in the league with his tenacity and tackling.

The 31-year-old then left the Gunners to join AC Milan but re-joined them in 2013 and has played on in his role. His position though is under threat by a new player, Francis Coquelin but the Frenchman has made more than 250 appearances for the Gunners and has won three FA Cups with them.
