3 Dutch Stars Who Could Kick Start Ronald Koeman’s Everton Career

koeman 1

Ronald Keoman was appointed the Everton manager last week, which left Toffees fans in joy and Southampton fans in anger. Everton flexed their financial power to capture their first choice. The Dutchman will reportedly have a budget of around £100 million to take Everton closer to Champions League qualification. The Merseyside club went through a disappointing last season under Roberto Martínez, as the Spaniard had struggled to galvanize his misfiring side and after a run of one win in 10 Premier League games, he was shown the door at Goodison Park.

Having signed a three-year deal Everton fans are already starting to wonder what Koeman can do in the transfer market, what players will he bring in? He might be tempted to raid his former club Southampton but given the way the two sides separated, it’s very unlikely that any of the Saints players are going to move to Everton. However he has always been a huge admirer of the Dutch League and at Southampton, he signed Graziano Pelle and Jordie Clasie from Feyenoord and also swooped for Dusan Tadic and Cuco Martina from FC Twente, who became keys members of the squad.

Here we look at three Dutch players Koeman can bring to Everton

Cillessen 1

Jasper Cillessen

With Tim Howard left Everton at the end of last season, which has left a void to fill and Roberto Martinez had identified Cillessen as his replacement before being sacked. it’s been reported that new boss Ronald Koeman is also an admirer of the Dutch No.1, and is looking to sign him up this summer window. The 27 year old Dutch keeper is highly rated in Europe, so much so that Manchester United has lined him up to replace David De Gea before his move to Real Madrid fell through last year.

Klassen 1

Davy Klaassen

Klaassen is the captain of the Ajax team and is a very talented attacking midfielder from Netherlands. He established himself as a regular in Ajax in 2013-14 season, where he went on to score 11 goals in 36 games and was duly rewarded with a full international appearance for Holland. Capable of variety of roles upfront, Klaassen has been most effective as a box to box midfielder for Ajax, something which will be very useful at Everton, given their inability at creating openings last season.

janssen 1

Vincent Janssen

Janssen has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs this summer, with Tottenham currently leading the race. However the presence of Dutch manager might swing it in favour of Everton. He was the top scorer in Eredivisie last season with 27 goals. At just the age of 21, Janssen still has raw potential which can be developed to create a future star and he hasn’t been prolific only his club side but has also netted in three of his last four international matches. He is very clinical in front of goal, something Everton could use next season, if Lukaku decides to leave.
