Newcastle opinion: 3 ambitious signings Benitez can make if Sheikh Khaled takes over

According to a report from BBC, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is in talks with Arab billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan to sell the club in the coming days.

The potential new owner is the cousin of Manchester City’s Sheikh Mansour, whose investment has propelled the Cityzens to become one of the best sides in Europe.

Newcastle United could replicate what Manchester City has done over the last decade in terms of player recruitments for big money and here are three players who the Magpies can sign if the takeover is successful.

Joelinton

Newcastle have been heavily linked with the Brazilian striker over the past two months and they would have to break their bank to complete the signing this summer.

Joelinton has had an incredible season in Germany with Hoffenheim, for whom he has scored 11 goals and has provided 9 assists in all competitions. The 22-year-old would be a fantastic addition to the Magpies, who will need a new forward if Salomon Rondon isn’t signed on permanently.

Ryan Fraser

The Scottish winger has been immense for the Cherries this season, having scored an impressive 8 goals and has provided a stunning 15 assists in all competitions.

Fraser has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal but reports have emerged that Newcastle United are interested in him.

The 25-year-old would be an incredible addition to the Magpies’ squad, where he, along with Almiron, can cause havoc for the opposition next season.

Mario Fernandes

Newcastle have been linked with a shock move for the highly rated Russian right-back Mario Fernandes in recent days. Deandre Yedlin has had his downs this season, while Javier Manquillo has struggled to have an impact.

Fernandes is vastly experienced, both at club level and for Russia, and he would be an amazing addition to Newcastle’s squad next season.

The 28-year-old has 10 assists to his name this season in all competitions and he is capable of playing at full-back as well as on the right-wing.
