Who Is This 21-year Old Winger That Liverpool Are After? Everything You Need To Know

Euro 2016 has been a hotbed for some unknown youngsters to prove to the world that they are ready to take that big step and move to a bigger club next season. One team that actually did very well in the competition was Croatia and even though they were knocked out by Portugal, they should hold their heads high with their performance and a couple of players did get to show their skills for the team.

One such star that seems to be making the headlines is Marko Pjaca, the 21-year-old might not have gotten a lot of minutes for the national side but he is certainly a player that could be moving in the summer and Liverpool are just one of the clubs linked with a move for the attacking player.

Another bright Croatian talent

Just like Ante Coric, Pjaca is another star in the making for the Croatian side and at only 21-years of age; he has a lot of time on his side as well. The youngster started his career for Lokomotiva Zagreb where he made close to 50 appearances in the league in two years.

He then made a big move to Dinamo Zagreb in 2014 and this is where his true talent came to the fore. In December 2014, he score a hat-trick against Celtic in a Europa League game and this was just one of many incredible performances for the Zagreb born player.

Playing style and position

As you might have guessed, Pjaca is an attacking player and is most comfortable playing out on the left wing. The Zagreb player is known for his accurate passing but also has the ability to dribble and run with the ball as well. He might be right-footed but he prefers playing on the left-wing.

Pjaca however, is adept with both feet and that would be a bonus for Liverpool if they do sign him. He likes to cut onto his right foot and like most wingers nowadays, he likes to have a pop at goal. He does have 26 goals for Dinamo in his two seasons at the club and both seasons he did reach double digits in goals.

He is quick with the ball at his feet also and is tough to defend against but he isn’t a player who crosses the ball often, which should work in favour of Jurgen Klopp’s playing style.

His physicality might be a problem when he has to go against some of the tougher defenders in England but his speed should be enough to get past such issues. Liverpool don’t really have quality wingers out wide and Pjaca is full of potential and fits the bill for a “Fenway Sports Group” signing.

Jurgen Klopp might have signed Sadio Mane but having someone who is young and probably one of the best bets for an incredible future would certainly seal Liverpool’s future in having quality wingers for years to come.
