2 Signings To Make Wolves Stronger In The Premier League
Wolverhampton Wanderers are relentlessly moving towards Premier League promotion and will certainly make an impact.
One vital piece of business that they have done recently is to turn Diogo Jota’s loan move into a permanent deal, cleverly timed to be enforced in July after his current loan deal runs out, meaning there will be a cash windfall by then to pay for the move.
Despite their success, however, there will be a need for further strengthening of the team over the summer in order for them to cope with Premier League life and here are two players they may look at bringing in by way of giving their squad a deeper look:
James Maddison (Norwich City)
Diogo Jota operates on the left flank of the front three and just behind the striker, but cuts inside at every opportunity. This is a role Maddison could do as well.
It would be a close call between the two of them right now but Wolves need to have strong competition for places and Maddison is the type of player that many top level clubs will be looking to snap up this summer. So Wolves should act swiftly to get their man.
Norwich are keen to sell their top talent in order to balance the books, with Robby Brady, Jacob Murphy and Alex Pritchard having all left for big money in recent windows. Wolves have already done business with that club in recent times for current members of their squad and it would make the negotiations a little easier than usual.
Bruno Fernandes (Sporting)
Wolves already have great links to Portugal and Bruno Fernandes is a player who could link up with fellow countryman Ruben Neves in the middle of the park. Romain Saiss has done a good job in the Championship but for me, they’ll need more when they go up a level and it would be easy to see Wolves delving into a familiar transfer market to find his replacement.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder would be an excellent addition to the squad and one that is highly likely, given the player’s ambition to play in the Premier League and the fact that he would be joining Nuno Santo, Ivan Cavaleiro, Neves, Diogo Jota and Helder Costa among others, becomes an attractive proposition for him.
The way Wolves play, the two central midfield positions are vital in the side and it’s not an area they can afford to be cavalier with. They need to strengthen that area in the summer.
