2 Signings That Could Change Inter Forever

There are possibly endless tales we could share with our kids about the rise and fall of archaically heroic football clubs where Inter Milan, the famous Italian giants, contributes a promising chapter.

Internazionale or Inter or Inter Milan, whatever the name, the San Siro club had its own fame and name in the 20th century by bagging two back-to-back Champions League trophies in 1964 and 1965 and in the 21st century by winning 5 successive league titles. It was then, by 2010, after winning the Champions League final 2-0 against Bayern Munich under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, the Italian supremacy began to cease. Obviously, that side had the list of big names such as Diego Milito, Cambiasso and captain Javier Zanetti, all being Argentine sensations. Samuel Eto’o and Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder was a threat to defenders while defensive Brazilians Maicon and Lucio along with country folk Marco Materazzi combined with the goal-stopper Julio Caesar in the backline.

Such a valiant team gradually lost its pace and power after stars backed out and some huge transfers too kicked in. Ever since then, Inter Milan weren’t much of a league-topper and their hunt for talents often ended up in vain. In fact, their arch-rivals AC Milan, too, had to suffer through the dip-in-form period.

It is 2017 now, and somehow Inter Milan got the better of AC Milan in the act of revival after climbing up to 4th spot in Serie A this weekend. Home fans went jubilant following their 3-0 victory at San Siro against Pescara. The home side, led by Stefano Pioli, is gathering the lost pace of late as the team looks stabilized in every position. With captain Icardi leading upfront, supported by Croatian starlet Ivan Perisic and Portuguese Euro-cup winner Joao Mario, Inter Milan is back again as a European scourge.

Yet, what stops the Nerazzurris is the versatility and the game-changing abilities during times of distress. And that is one of the two reasons why they began their pursuit for Atletico Madrid and French sensation, Antoine Griezmann. Though the two-time Champions league finalist remains tight-lipped, he might consider a move this summer, especially when Inter looks willing to splash in as alluring as £110million for the forward.

Financially, Inter Milan is rich enough, particularly after having 68 percent holding from Chinese group Suning and the board is all set to spend on some serious potential which forms the second reason.

Having Griezmann in the starting line-up could be of great importance but Joao Mario has others plans. Big plans, to be precise.

The Euro Cup winner has reportedly found convincing his national team-mate and captain Cristiano Ronaldo to join the San Siro camp.

“I am trying to talk him into joining me at Inter! Let’s just say it is difficult!

Difficult – perhaps it is.

Antoine Griezmann is also on Manchester United’s radar and Mourinho’s tactics involve Paul Pogba being the bait to lure in their target to Old Trafford, as the countrymen share a good deal of friendship.

No matter what, two good signings are on the prospect of reviving the lost Inter Milan, [though the latter being impossible] and possibly Griezmann holds the skills to fill in the shoes of Diego Milito or Samuel Eto’o along with Icardi.

Yet, they will find nobody to fill in that of Mario Balotelli!
