2 prodigies Leeds must sign in January to beef up their squad including this Chelsea starlet

2 players Leeds United must sign in January to beef up their squad

Leeds United have signalled their intent with the brand of football they are playing under the renowned Marcelo Bielsa this season. Leeds have scored 20 goals while conceding only 8 so far and it is easy to get carried away after just 10 games in a taxing 46-game season.

Despite a bump lately at the hands of Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds fans can dare to dream and from the first set of games, it has been evident that Bielsa is not afraid of making tactical and fundamental changes.

In Bielsa, Leeds have a man who leaves no stone unturned in his quest for success and could be the right personality to take the Whites to the Premier League next season.

However, the Whites have shown a few weaknesses in the last few games that need to be addressed in January with a couple of reinforcements. That being said, here are two players Bielsa must sign in January to strengthen his squad.

Dominic Solanke (Liverpool)

As Patrick Bamford will be out injured for four months, Bielsa must prioritise signing a replacement in January even though Kemar Roofe has been in sizzling form this season.

Dominic Solanke

Leeds must target a January loan swoop for Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke. Solanke is currently struggling for game time at Liverpool. The 21-year-old is an exciting striker whose finishing abilities and hold-up play belie his age.

Leeds must snap him up in January as Solanke could be the perfect addition to provide that drive in the second half of the season.

Ethan Ampadu (Chelsea)

Ethan Ampadu’s situation at Chelsea is quite similar to Solanke’s at Liverpool. Ampadu has impressed since moving to Stamford Bridge from Exeter in July 2017 and has also signed a new five-year deal. However, he is yet to feature under Maurizio Sarri this season.

Now that the Welsh teenager is failing to get opportunities at Chelsea, it would be wise for Leeds to make a loan move. The Chelsea starlet could be a revelation at Elland Road.

Ampadu is a versatile player and his ability to play as a central defender and as a defensive midfielder would solve a couple of issues for Bielsa. The Wales international’s addition in January will provide Leeds with quality and depth in the squad.
