Two Players Who Could Leave Stoke City In The Summer
Ten years after they made it to the Premier League, Stoke City find themselves staring at the prospect of relegation back to the Championship this season.
Having first earned promotion to the top-flight in 2008, the Potters in recent years had established themselves as a stable Premier League club. But a disastrous 2017/18 campaign has left them facing the threat of dropping down to the Championship. Stoke, currently, sit second-bottom in the league table with 26 points from 28 games.
Newly appointed manager Paul Lambert has a huge task at his hands to try and turn things around for the Potters, and while their fate is not set in stone as of yet, given their current form, one wouldn’t back Stoke to make it out of the bottom three.
There would be a revamp in the squad in the summer without a doubt, regardless of whether Stoke survive or get relegated and here we look at two players who could be on their way out of the Bet365 Stadium at the end of the season;
Saido Berahino
The signing of Saido Berahino by Stoke City has to go down as one of the biggest transfer blunders of the Premier League in recent history.
Signed from West Bromwich Albion in January last year, after his falling out with then Baggies boss Tony Pulis, the Englishman has endured an absolutely torrid twelve-month period with Stoke. The Englishman has featured 28 times for the Potters since his arrival but has not been able to break the duck in front of goal as of yet.
Lack of form and confidence, poor off the field behaviour, fitness troubles all have contributed to Berahino’s steep downfall over the past couple of years and it would be a huge surprise to see Stoke hold on to the 24-year old beyond this season.

Kevin Wimmer
When Stoke decided to shell out a fee of £15 million to sign Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham Hotspur, it was met with a lot of bemusement by the fraternity.
Here was a player who had hardly played 15 Premier League games in two years with the North London outfit and yet, manager Mark Hughes decided to invest heavily in the Austrian centre-half anyway.
Having endured a disastrous start to life with his new club under Hughes, Wimmer has been completely sidelined by new boss Lambert and the 25-year old has not made the matchday squad for the last four games. Till date, he has featured in 19 games for the club in all competitions.
With his chances unlikely to improve, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Stoke decide to cut their losses on the player and offload him only after a year at the club.
