Chelsea were a bit hullabaloo in this summer transfer window. They got rid of Antonio Conte after the pre-season started, which is weird, to say the least. New manager Maurizio Sarri was hired from Napoli, with midfielder Jorginho also arriving from the Italian club.
Since then, the Blues had a struggle with regards to keeping hold of Thibaut Courtois, who has joined Los Blancos, while Hazard has stayed put at Stamford Bridge under Sarri.
After the managerial change, it was clear that it would be tough for Chelsea to identify the targets according to the needs of the new manager, and then to get those deals done by 9th August.
They have failed to land the required players and here are two transfer targets who were missed by Chelsea this summer that could come back to haunt them.
It was no secret that to cover the potential loss of Courtois at the time, Chelsea were looking to get Alisson Becker from AS Roma. They were even ready to pay £70m for the Brazilian, who was wanted by Liverpool too.
Now, given the fact that the Reds got him and Chelsea lost Courtois, the situation was slightly twitchy for the Blues. They eventually signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao for a world-record fee for a goalkeeper, breaking Liverpool’s fee for Alisson.
With all due respect to the Spaniard though, Chelsea would have loved to have Alisson in their squad. The latter is Brazil’s first choice and he is holding off Manchester City star Ederson’s challenge in the national team.
Even though Liverpool almost bought the Frenchman, it was evident that Chelsea were interested in the player as well. There was a time before the transfer deadline when talks were going on about Chelsea being in the pole position to sign Fekir. (Express)

Getting a versatile attacking midfield player wouldn’t have been bad for Chelsea this season. With the current midfield they have, it looks obvious that they lack creativity in that area, raising undue expectations on the frontline to create as well as score goals.
