Two Deadline Day Signings Leeds Should Look To Complete
Leeds have been busy this winter already with Laurens De Bock, Adam Forshaw, Aapo Halme and Yosuke Ideguchi having all arrived at Elland Road. However, it appears Thomas Christiansen and the Leeds hierarchy are not finished there.
They have been happy to be busy in the market over the last few windows but that doesn’t mean they are tremendously cash-rich, so getting in a couple of bargain signings before the window slams shut may be the order of the day for the Yorkshire club.
Here we look at two such players who may yet arrive through the Elland Road door to complete a fine winter transfer window:
Marcus Maddison (Peterborough United)
On a personal note, I would love to see Maddison get to the Championship at least, as I watched him dozens of times for Newcastle’s best under-18 side for a generation when he was excellent time and again – it was clear that he was going to make it in the game.
After another season of improvement for Peterborough in League One, Maddison is now on the radar of higher level clubs, including Leeds, and could be bought for a £12million+ amount. He could challenge Alioski at first before proving himself as the better player. Maddison likes to start on the right-hand side and cut inside on to his favoured left foot and he brings with him some expert dead ball play too.
Adam Bogdan (Liverpool)
The Yorkshire side may well attempt to bring in a new ‘keeper before Wednesday night, as Lonergan is reportedly leaving for Sunderland. Lonergan only arrived at Elland Road last summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers and to be fair has done fine for a while, usurping German stopper Felix Wiedwald as the first choice before finding himself back on the bench again.
Leeds will have to find a senior replacement and this is where Bogdan comes in – a ‘keeper who now finds himself as the 4th choice at Liverpool and looking for more game time. The 30-year-old Bogdan has not played a senior game since November 2016, when he was playing for Wigan Athletic on loan. He then suffered a serious knee injury.
He is fit and ready to go now though and his chances of game time at Anfield seem to sit somewhere between slim and none.
