The Metro has reported that Manchester United are very interested in signing PSV Eindhoven star Hirving Lozano. The report further adds that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bring the best youth talent to the club.
However, their top target is Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, which is no surprise given that the 18-year-old has had a phenomenal season.
The move would represent a massive change for the Red Devils, as former manager Jose Mourinho opted to target more established players, with links to Ivan Perisic (Calciomercato) and Douglas Costa (Express).
Solskjaer, on the other hand, is clearly going in the opposite direction, with Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot, and Luke Shaw featuring heavily. It’s a move that has paid dividends for the Red Devils, with the Norwegian losing just three games since taking over.
It’s why the move for Hirving Lozano is the perfect fit, especially given that Jesse Lingard has struggled to make a big impact.
The 26-year-old has just 5 goals and 4 assists to his name and is yet to score a Premier League goal in 2019. Lozano, on the other hand, has been absolutely brilliant this season for PSV Eindhoven, scoring 19 goals and creating another 9.
More importantly, Lozano is a forward who has been built to attack. The Mexcian combines pace, power and spatial awareness brilliantly. It’s in the spaces that Lozano really flourishes, weaving his way between defenders before finding himself in one-on-one situations.
As Germany so wonderfully witnessed during the 2018 World Cup, Lozano has the composure and the clinical nature to smash the ball past a world-class keeper even when the odds are against him.
It’s that ability which will make him so important to Manchester United, as they try and close the gap between them, Liverpool and Manchester City.
However, it’s not as if the 23-year-old is not without his fair share of faults, and his consistency has been questioned at times. But if there is one thing that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is, he’s a manager who can bring the best out of the younger players, guiding them to success.
