Three reasons why Chelsea should sign Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich
As I write this, Bayern Munich are yet to take the pitch against Arsenal in the knockout stages of the first leg at the Emirates. If rumors across major tabloids are to be believed, Chelsea are looking to snap up Croatian Mario Mandzukic from the Bavarian outfit come summer in May. With a lack for a quality striker up front, thanks to Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o misfirings, here are the three reasons why the Blues should sign Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich.
1. The Croatian is a lethal goal scorer
This season Mandzukic has been playing an important role for Bayern, and in a free scoring side that has been simply unbeatable in Germany. The Croat is the side’s top goal scorer in the Champions League and might lead Guardiola’s side to yet another Champions League triumph, given the depth of their squad and style of play. Mandzukic has twelve goals in 19 Bundesliga games, a testament of his lethal goal scoring abilities. He has scored two less goals than Lewandowski in the league this season, even though the Pole has played more games than the Croat. It will be sad that Mandzukic will have to play second fiddle to Lewandowski once the current Dortmund striker arrives at the Allianz Arena. This might just be the right time for Chelsea to pounce.
