19 Chances Created – This La Liga Star Will Sort Out Liverpool’s Left Back Problems

Liverpool has had constant problems with their left back position last season. While Jose Enrique’s season was marred by injuries, Rodgers did not rate him high enough to guarantee a regular spot for him. Thus he made the move to bring Aly Cissokho to Liverpool last summer, even if it was on loan. But the new recruit did not shine enough and was a disappointment. This forced Rodgers to play youngster Jon Flanagan, whose natural position is the right side to play on the left. Flanagan was still decent in his new position and showed much promise. But that did make Liverpool’s right side vulnerable, where Glen Johnson did not do enough.

Thus this season Rodgers made a priority to get a left back and then shift Flanagan to the right side. The Liverpool management went through some of the left backs and so far it seems that Alberto Moreno has made the cut. The Sevilla left back will be a Liverpool player soon, if sources are to be believed and this should solve a lot of problems for Rodgers. A fee of £16 million and a loan move for Suso is enough to do the trick and the 21 year old would don the Liverpool jersey soon.

The Liverpool transfer committee has set rules for themselves, barring themselves from investing on players whom they believe would not have a long future with the club. In that respect Moreno is a perfect fit and at 21, he could serve the club for a number of seasons. He would also have resale values if the club want to sell him off for a profit in the future.

Moreno is a Sevilla youth product who has advanced through the club stages to make his debut for the senior team two seasons ago. He has so far played 45 matches for his side in the last couple of years and has so far grabbed the eyeballs of the football world. He is considered as one of the most exciting young prospects currently and that is not without a reason.

Moreno has made 29 league appearances this season and been one of the most consistent men of the club. He has scored 3 goals and created 19 chances in total, showcasing his attacking instincts, which Jose Enrique mastered.

Moreno has an average pass accuracy of 79% which should remarkably improve in Liverpool, where he would get a much better squad than he has got till now. He has made 5 defensive actions on an average in each match this season and the Premier League would be a tough test for him with all the physicality that it possesses. He displays good physicality and is decent in the air, something which Liverpool have missed throughout.

A fee of £16 million can be debated though for a player who is still untested in the Premier League. But the Liverpool management will let others believe that he has already tasted European success with the Europa medal that he has earned this season and that would increase his price steeply.
