17-Year Old Rising Star Manchester United Must Target

He is extremely quick on the turn, pacey and hot to handle. Not just that, he has a thunderous right foot and is capable of playing as the lone striker up front. What more he can also play on the wings, which demonstrates his versatility and is equally capable of switching play thus aiding team mates to join him during counter attacks.

So whom are we talking about? It’s none other than the new sensation, Fulham’s under 21 striker Moussa Dembele, who according to the Mirror is being closely tracked by the big clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool.

Also according to the same report from Mirror, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers sent a three-man team to watch the 17-year-old score twice for the Londoners’ Under-21 side last week. Dembele – snapped up from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer – has been in sensational form for Fulham’s youth and reserve sides, and that has alerted top clubs. Unfortunately Fulham have the worst crisis in years after a pathetic start to the campaign, now dropping to 18th, in the table.

Dembele recently scored two goals and provided an assist in the reserve side’s 3-1 victory over Bolton U-21s, despite only playing 75 minutes. He also scored both the goals in the side’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle, prior to impressing Manchester United representatives, as confirmed in the club’s website.

It is obvious that David Moyes will look to add to his attacking prowess this coming January and Dembele, who is immensely versatile looks perfect to fit the bill. Although United have Hernandez and Welbeck as a respectable back-ups for Rooney and Van Persie, David Moyes’ No 2 Steve Round, along with coaches Phil Neville and Nicky Butt have highly ratied the young and versatile star for the future. (According to a report from Dailymail)

Dembele was signed from the Paris Saint-Germain academy last year for £284,000 when Martin Jol decided to replace Tottenham bound Dembele with the 16-year old Dembele.

The question is who needs this pacey young striker? Liverpool or the reigning Champions Manchester United. While the Suarez-Sturridge partnership has been simply sublime this campaign, the Van Persie and Rooney effect is yet to take place this current campaign. Though United are yet to play Welbeck and Hernandez this campaign effectively, they have a wonderful set of young players, with the likes of Adnan Janujaz, Nick Powel or Ángelo Henríquez now promoted to join the first team.

Coming to Dembele, who recently signed on his first professional contract with Fulham, which would mean that United would have to offer a fee for his signature. Possessing great strength and poise in front of goal, Dembele could be another great addition to the wealth of young talent waiting to break through at United.
