Arsenal opinion: Emery should make a move for Wesley Moraes
The Guardian reported that Arsenal
That shows just how talented the 22-year-old Brazilian is and why a move for Arsenal actually makes sense.
Physically strong, Wesley Moraes, despite the fact that he is 6’2”, has a surprisingly rapid turn of pace, which makes him unpredictable in and around the opposition box.
An a-typical striker, Moraes has the ability to finish and create goals as his season has shown so far. Furthermore, his ability to play as either a target man or as a goal-poacher would give Unai Emery another option up front.
While there is no doubting just how good both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang have been this season, there are no options beyond that. Danny Welbeck is one but the Englishman has spent most of 2019 on the physio’s table.
Injuring his ankle in the Europa League, the 28-year-old is set to miss the remainder of the season and that has affected Arsenal at times. However, adding someone as talented as Wesley Moraes would only do the club a lot of good.
As mentioned Moraes would give the club another dimension to their attacking line and he can also play out wide if needed.
While that isn’t his preferred position, it’s something that Moraes is more than willing to do for his team, as witnessed this season for Club Brugge.
To make things more interesting, the Brazilian has revealed that he would be more than open to a move to the Premier League (Sun). That makes him ripe for the picking and it’s something that Arsenal should take advantage of.
They do have two brilliant strikers but at the moment, they both have no competition for their places. So what happens is that both Lacazette and Aubameyang have simply walked into the team and while that isn’t a bad thing, it can lead to complacency.
Adding someone like Wesley Moraes will help deal with that in the near future.
