13 tackles, 29 clearances – Liverpool can bag a coup if they sign this rising young Leicester star in January

Why Ben Chilwell would be a great addition for Liverpool

After a four-game winless run, Liverpool returning to winning ways against Huddersfield Town this weekend, courtesy of a well slotted goal from Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah.

Klopp’s men endured a significant drop in their form before the international break but did well to pick up three points against the Terriers.

The Reds are set to offload Spanish left-back Alberto Moreno on a free transfer this summer after the club decided against handing the player a new contract at the end of the season. Liverpool will have just Andrew Robertson as the left-back and will certainly need to find another player to offer cover.

One man Klopp can take a look at would Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell. The young English defender has been making a name for himself under Claude Puel this season and has looked superb so far.

Though the Foxes succumbed to a defeat against a rampant Arsenal side, Chilwell definitely caught the eye with his superb raids down the left flank.

He also played a crucial role in the Foxes’ opening goal at the Emirates, galloping past one of the fastest full-backs in Hector Bellerin and slotting it home, albeit a deflection off the Arsenal defender.

The 21-year-old has so far played all 9 games for the Foxes this season and has shown a meteoric rise in his performances.

He would definitely be a great addition to Liverpool. A hard-working and diligent defender is always going to be welcome by Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp should definitely try and make the move for Chilwell in order to replace Alberto Moreno. Though the Foxes would be hesitant to sell their rising star, Liverpool should be able to convince him by offering the prospect of playing in the Champions League.

Under Klopp, the youngster will also receive the right kind of nurture and development required.
