7. Injury to Star Striker
Spurs bounced back from the Champions League loss at Wembley with a 1-0 win over strugglers Sunderland at the White Hart Lane, but the biggest talking point from that game was the injury to the goal scorer Harry Kane. The Englishman had picked up an injury to his ankle following a challenge from Didier N’Dong and as a result would be ruled out for seven weeks. It was a bitter moment for Tottenham, but they did not lose hope and won three of their next games thrashing Gillingham 5-0 in the EFL Cup and followed it up with a 2-1 away win against Middlesbrough in the league before defeating CSKA Moscow 1-0 in Russia in the Champions League.
