Chelsea Transfer Targets: 2 Players They Should Avoid Signing This Summer

Chelsea have made their first official signing of this summer transfer window as Andre Schurrle was announced as a Blue yesterday, in the club’s official website. Reinforced with a new manager, Chelsea are expected to bring in a few more players before the transfer window winds up as Mourinho tries to assemble a squad which can challenge for the title next season. But while going through the transfer process, a team of Chelsea’s stature should be wary of many factors and not take up any player (cough, cough “Torres”, cough) who seems to fit the bill. Given Roman Abramovich’s past and Mourinho’s willingness to invest heavily in the squad, you can expect a few more big names at the Bridge although Mou has claimed not to spend big. Here we take a look at two such players whom Chelsea should completely avoid.

Loic Remy

The disillusioned QPR striker may not be on the priority list of Chelsea (he was at the start of the previous season), but sooner or later they may think of making a move for him as one by one all their prime strike targets are joining their rivals. While Monaco was the first to snap up Falcao, Cavani is also headed to Manchester City, or so it seems. Lewandowski has also made it clear from the beginning that his team of choice would be Bayern Munich, amid Borussia’s hard bent attitude against this move. With very few of their initial targets available, Chelsea may end up going for someone like Remy forgetting the fact that the two concerned parties in this case are like chalk and cheese. Although Remy has done well for himself in England till now, there is no way that he would be fit for a club like Chelsea and ultimately would end up like Ba.

Of course there is always the want away Man United striker, Rooney available and could very well prove to be a better option than Remy will ever be.

Wilfried Bony

Bony

Vitesse Arnhem’s Ivorian striker is another player who has been linked with the Blues for sometime now. Bony has repeatedly vented out his frustration at his club as he wants to leave them for a bigger team and league but Vitesse have so far successfully kept him at bay.

Chelsea on the other hand, having Torres and Ba in the mix, should they opt for Bony? The Ivorian is no way a Drogba replacement, and has had only one good season at the Eredivisie. He has every chance of failing in a league that demands the most and the spotlight at the Bridge may prove to be too much for the 24-year old coming from a club like Vitesse. Yes, he has is a goal machine who has scored 31 league goals in 30 matches last season, but singing him ahead of Lukaku would definitely be a wrong move.

Romelu Lukaku is a better, more efficient, Premier league proven striker who can come in and straight away make an impact. With the failures they have already suffered with Torres and Ba, Chelsea should definitely avoid Bony.

When Clubs like Fulham and West Ham are after a player and you are the only big club behind his signature, there should be something wrong in it. He can be brought as a back-up and not when you are in dire need of a striker.

I totally agree with you and I hope they just take lukaku and that’s all.
