Spanish papers including Marca and AS reported on Sunday that Arsenal have agreed to reach out for Madrid’s asking price for Gonzalo Higuain and the move to the Emirates is inevitable. And the trend continued today in the English press as well, with the likes of Independent, Metro and several other tabloids confirming the news that the Gunners may spend as much as £25million for the Argentine striker.

According to Spanish source Vozopuli – Arsenal are going to enter talks with Real Madrid to sign the player once Carlo Ancelotti has been confirmed as Real Madrid manager.’

The frustrated striker if all goes well, could don the Arsenal colors well before the start of the next season, in what would be the club’s record signing as it is reported that Arsenal are ready to see off Juventus as the Italians are prepared to offer not more than £18.7m, an amount that the Gunners are willing to break in order to take home a clinical striker that they so dearly want.

Higuain’s father Jorge Higuain talking to the press, said:

“We had contact through a friend of the [Juve] president, [agent Ernesto] Bronzetti,” he said. He looks after the market. I suppose he spoke with them. The clubs must first talk with Madrid and start the negotiation. [Gonzalo] wants to go to a team who recognize him and appreciate him. We want a team who is in Europe.”

Higuain’s move to Arsenal could trigger a series of transfers as Juventus would turn their attention to former Arsenal target Jovetic, who has also been on Chelsea’s radar, while there are also talks regarding Juventus and AC Milan looking at Tevez as a possible option.

Albeit, don’t be excited until you see it on Arsenal.com, mainly because of the manger situation that is there in Madrid as the club will only be selling their player after the arrival of Carlo Ancellotti which has been delayed by PSG.

Here are some twitter reactions from Arsenal fans.
