According to the Guardian, Arsenal are trying their best to acquire the services of Swansea City skipper Ashley Williams.
Williams earned praise from fans and pundits from all over the world for his consistent performances both at club and international level this season.
All three Arsenal center backs Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker are inconsistent throughout this season making many critical errors which are costing Arsenal in their race for Champions League spot. Last weekend’s defeat against rivals Tottenham showed how fragile their defense is.
Reports suggest that Arsenal scouts believe that Welsh Captain Ashley Williams is the right man who can bring an aura of leadership to this Arsenal defense. Any bid more than £8m will tempt the swans to sell their captain.
Liverpool are also interested in Williams whom they consider as a direct replacement for the retiring Jamie Carragher.
Williams who signed a three-year contract with Swansea recently won his first silverware as captain by winning the League Cup title.
